Yesterday we spent four and a half hours at Westmead Hospital, mainly waiting for Owen to see the plastics surgeon and then to see a physio for his new hand mould thingy. Our appointment was for 1:30pm and we didn’t walk in the door (at home) until 6:37pm. Needless to say it was a very, very, very long afternoon. For all of us. I’m really glad Marc took the afternoon off work to come with us, because even though Owen was being really well behaved for nearly the whole time we were there, I think I would have been climbing the walls before long. The upside to this visit to the hospital is that he doesn’t have to have surgery on his hand and they expect the muscles around his two broken metacarpels to pull the bones back into line and support them enough to help the healing process without having to open his hand up and put a plate in. WooHoo!

Ya know if you got to the hospital often enough they’ll name a wing after you – or something!
So glad that his hand should heal on his own, would be so scary for him (and you) if he had to have surgery!

Carls – thanks chickie :o)
Fantastagirl – No way! That would be kinda cool, although I don’t want to spend that much time up at the hospital ;o) I think you need to have cured something or donated a lot of money to get that sort of recognition over here – and we aren’t that smart or rich enough!!!! Maybe Owen will be? Who knows!

Well that’s top news! Not so much about the lengthy visit; more so that Owen’s hand should fix itself properly!

Good to hear no surgery required. That would mean needles, and as Jemima says, the pointy bits are yucky!

G – Yup all is good :) He’s a bit precious about keeping the plastic thingy on. Even though he knows he can take it off to have a bath, it has to go straight back on as soon as he gets dry… I think it’s turned into a bit of a security thing for him…
Sharon – Tell Jemima, I agree that the pointy bits are yucky! But you sometimes get a surprise if you’re brave about it all, don’t you? ;o)
