Bits and pieces

All in bullet points today because I can’t muster up any decent sentences.  Paragraphs.  Whatever.  Too tired, but am bored of looking at the same post when I open up our blog.

  • We bought Owen a mattress yesterday (Sleep City were having a warehouse sale – we paid $150 for a $570 mattress!), so we are one step closer to  actually getting him a bed.  Well not really, but he is going to sleep on the new single bed mattress until we find something to put it on.  I figure at least he will be kind of used to the space of a bigger mattress until then.
  • Owen and an Allen key are the very best of friends.  Marc and Owen dismantled his toddler bed this morning and Owen did all but two screws all by himself.  He was pretty proud of that fact, and who can blame him!
  • I’ve added Almost Frugal and Small Notebook to our blog list.  Kelly from Almost Frugal writes interesting, funny and informative articles covering a range of topics from life in France, family stuff and, as her blog name suggests, frugality.  I love the fact that Kelly and her family are, well, normal!  Rachel from Small Notebook pretty much sums her blog up as ‘encouragement for a simple home’ which to me, describes her writing perfectly!
  • My Mum and Dad are flying down on Tuesday afternoon, so Owen is counting down the sleeps til his Nana and Grumps arrive.  I sure hope they are prepared for a dose of Owen…!
  • Today we attempted to find some semi-local farmers markets in hopes of picking up some reasonably priced fruit and veg.  Penrith High Street Markets were very much lacking in the fruit and veg department!  I’m hoping to try one of the many mid-week farmers markets this week, if I can con Mum and Dad into coming as well :o)

Finally, here’s a few pictures from today, to break up the boredom of this post!

Helping Dad pull apart his little bed

Trying out the new one

The almost finished product.  We have all the right bedding etc, just missing the actual furniture part!

The bed spread is courtesy of Nana.  I don’t think she’s taking requests :o)

Rachel – no worries :) I hope any tips I can pass on will help!

Kelly – Normal, well yeah! There are always things that we bloggers aren’t going to share with the rest of the world, but I imagine yours to be a somewhat chaotic (kids and husbands will do that to you!), yet functional (where washing, cleaning, cooking, managing etc still does get done despite all the regular interruptions of life) household – in other words normal. Well my kind of normal anyway :o)
