Resizing is definitely the way to go. ACDSee has a quick resize option too (right click –> tools –> resize).

Cath, I think Picasa only works if you’re on a blogger account (since they’re both google).

Can you use Picassa to post photos to your site? Picassa automatically resizes them…

Is there a thing in wordpress that makes you type in a string of random numbers/letters before it will let you write your comment?

I thought wordpress did a pretty good job of filtering spam comments, to be honest.

Anyway – regarding load speed, try using smaller res photos on the front page. For example, that photo of the beach at Woodgate is 2mb!
