Comment Spam

Don’t you just hate when your blog is attacked by Spammers. I just spent half an hour deleting comments from sites selling mobile phones, satellite navigation and dating services.

Because of this I’ve had to turn on Comment Approvals. If you haven’t posted a comment before it may take a little while before it shows up as we will have to approve the comment the first time. Hopefully that will stop a lot of the problems.

Several people commented on the speed of loading the website at Ben and Michelle’s wedding. I’m working on a way to make things quicker if you are on dial up. Stay tuned for more…

  • Resizing is definitely the way to go. ACDSee has a quick resize option too (right click –> tools –> resize).

Cath, I think Picasa only works if you’re on a blogger account (since they’re both google).

  • Oh no, you can’t do that – we love your photos!

Can you use Picassa to post photos to your site? Picassa automatically resizes them…

  • Me too lazy to make pictures smaller :)

hmmmm or I could just leave them off…. Not much to look at then!

  • Is there a thing in wordpress that makes you type in a string of random numbers/letters before it will let you write your comment?

I thought wordpress did a pretty good job of filtering spam comments, to be honest.

Anyway – regarding load speed, try using smaller res photos on the front page. For example, that photo of the beach at Woodgate is 2mb!

  • I hate spammers.. hate hate hate.. did I meant hate?

Looks so pretty there in those pictures. The bride looked great too! I love her dress. Very elegant.
